ABOUT

Your Local Life Education Provider

Ryde Hunters Hill and Canada Bay Life Education (RHHCBLE) is a locally run and locally funded organisation, licensed to deliver the Life Education NSW programs.

We are not-for-profit, being almost entirely volunteer-driven, so rely on the support of our wonderful local businesses and community members to fund the delivery of programs into our schools.

Life Education History

1979: Life Education was founded by Reverend Ted Noffs in Kings Cross, Sydney. This initial program included TAM, the Transparent Anatomical Manikin which is a life-sized model of the female body, and Harold, an animated giraffe.

1982: The first mobile Life Education Centre was built. Ted came up with the concept of a mobile classroom that could travel from school to school, to help increase accessibility to the Life Education program. Dick Smith supported the build of the first mobile Life Education Centre.

Support to build more centres grew as Ted promoted the idea in local community gatherings around the country. Ted also travelled extensively around the world, meeting with key business and community leaders, and Heads of Governments, sharing the Life Education approach.

Today: Life Education is the largest non-government provider of drug and health education to children and young people, and their families and communities, Australia wide. Since its inception in 1979, over 4 million children and young people have benefited from the Life Education message. Life Education is also now well-established in New Zealand, Hong Kong, Barbados, Cyprus, Finland, Hungary, Thailand, Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Macau, the UK and the United States.

Empowering Our Local Children Through Education

The Life Education Program is an interactive experience designed to empower students to make safer and healthier life choices with the assistance of our very popular mascot, Healthy Harold.

Life Education does not dictate what is right or wrong but provides children with information encouraging them to make informed decisions.
